All VAN VOTZ products are water-based meaning less solvents are used that emit harmful fumes into the atmosphere. Our products are very low in VOCs and are well below regulatory standards.  

A wood stain's primary function is decorative. While some exterior stains claim to offer outdoor protection, it is generally mild compared to VAN VOTZ STAIN & SEALER which is formulated to provide superior protection for outdoor conditions with UV blocking filters, mold and algae inhibitor and strong water repellency. VAN VOTZ STAIN & SEALER is also available in 12 wood-matched colors so you don’t have to forgo any decorative value.      

VAN VOTZ CLEAR WOOD SEALER offers far superior protection in areas of sun exposure as the formulation makes it naturally resistant to UV rays. Polyurethane cures into a hard plastic film that can split or crack, whereas VAN VOTZ forms a flexible film allowing wood to expand and contract that is more suited to wood in outdoor conditions.

No, VAN VOTZ products are not designed to be applied in conjunction with other stains or coatings. 

VAN VOTZ WOOD FILLER comes in the same wood-matched colors as VAN VOTZ STAIN & SEALER. Simply choose the same wood filler color as the top coat for a consistent finish. If you are using a clear topcoat, wood filler colors can be blended together to match the exact tone of the wood you are working with. 

VAN VOTZ products are suitable for all types of wood including hardwoods, softwood, pressure-treated wood, exotic wood, wood siding and log homes

No, VAN VOTZ STAIN & SEALER is not suitable for floors or areas with heavy foot traffic. 

Recommended surfaces include siding, fences, windows, doors, outdoor furntiure, pergolas and similar.  

VAN VOTZ topcoats are designed to protect and enhance all types of wood, but can also be used on other porous vertical surfaces such as masonry, fiber cement, stucco and stone.  

Yes, VAN VOTZ wood filler and waterproofer colors can be blended together to create custom colors.  

STAIN & SEALER colors can be lightened by mixing with White, and transparency increased by mixing with CLEAR WOOD SEALER.

Differences between the color sample on the label and the finished product may occur. The definitive color will depend on the type and natural color of the wood, thickness of coats and lighting. 

It is normal to see the contents separate in the container if kept stored for some time. Make sure to shake the container well before use. 

Clean your brushes, supplies and work area with soap and water. 

Store any leftovers in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight or extreme cold. Keep the lid firmly closed.

Throw leftover product into the garbage only after it has dried. Do not pour into the drain or onto the ground. If a small amount is left you can remove the lid to let it dry and solidify. If you have a larger amount to dispose of, you can mix in sawdust to thicken and will quicken the drying process.

The product may become unstable depending on how long and how thorough it has frozen. Let the product thaw out and check if the consistency has changed from when it was new, if different, it is best to dispose.

Unopened containers can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery. Returns of opened items or items without original packaging cannot be accepted. Paint is subject to a 12% restocking fee and the customer is responsible for all return freight charges.
